  • Proposed community center heads to aldermen

    June 27th, 2022


    The Aldermanic Committee on Lands and Buildings agreed to consider a piece of
    park land on the West Side as surplus in order to sell it to a group committed to
    building a $17 million community center.


    The decision made last week in a 4-1 vote to sell the 4.15-acre property for
    $600,000 will need to be approved by the full board of mayor and aldermen. The
    land is near Gossler Park Elementary School and Parkside Middle School.

    Mark Stebbins Community Center (Manchester) – Receives $40,000 CDFA Tax Credit: The Mark Stebbins Community Center will use Tax Credits to support the build or repurposing of a new facility and bring new resources to the West Side of Manchester an under-resourced area of the city. The project will engage a project facilitator to bring together a wide range of non-profits and community agencies to plan the initiative and offer services on the West Side. The Mark Stebbins Community Center is seeking to acquire a building to co-locate services, collaborate across service and community partners, and deliver services that are culturally sensitive and specifically align with the needs of community residents.
